Day 152: Happy New Year

Best wishes to all my readers for the new year. We all waved 2018 a fond goodbye and welcomed 2019. What will the year bring I wonder?

Ideally, every day will be a day of joy and laughter, but we all know that will not be the case. Between January 1st and December 31st family and friends will pass away, jobs will be lost, and pets will leave for Rainbow Bridge. Along with happiness, there will be sadness and anger, along with laughter, tears will fall.

It so happened that I watched a movie last night where a man was able to go back in time and erase all the bad things in his life. Whatever went wrong, he simply went back a year, a day or even an hour or less to fix things. Eventually, he came to the conclusion that his life was not easier, on the contrary, because he erased the bad times, he didn’t appreciate the good times.

Still, on a day like today, we have to stay positive. It’s a brand-new beginning for all of us and we have to take advantage of this clean slate.

How did you welcome the new year? Dancing the night away at a party, curled up in front of the TV, or fast asleep under the duvet? Me, I stayed at home. I’m not a fan of going out when there is so much consumption of alcohol leading to fights and accidents.

Just this morning I read that a truck plowed into a sedan and a man was stabbed. Both were minding their own business, but in both cases, alcohol abuse was the cause of their death by simply being at the wrong place at the wrong time. For them and their families, 2019 has a less than happy beginning.

But let’s not get morbid. It’s January first and the majority of us are in good spirits. So, from me, my son and my fury gang ... best wishes for the new year.
